Bakground
In December 2008, the European Parliament adopted the Directive on the promotion of the use of energy from renewable energy sources (RES). For Sweden, this means that a total of 49% of our energy will come from renewable sources by 2020.
The Directive foresees the obligation for Member States to develop and submit by 30 June 2010 to the European Commission National Renewable Energy Actions Plans (NREAPs) outlining how to achieve their binding Renewable Energy Sources (RES) target by 2020 with concrete measures in the electricity, heating and cooling and biofuels sectors.
The aiming of REPAP2020 is to facilitate the process of implementation of the RES Directive on a national level. The main target group are Parliamentarians and Civil Servants in national administrations as well as national industry associations. REPAP will support their political work in the field of Renewable Energy.
